Psychotherapy & Counselling in London & Cobham
About Me
The relationship with your therapist is one of the most important parts of psychotherapy — arguably more important than any particular theory or technique. Before anything else, then, it feels right to introduce myself.
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with adults (18 and over). I trained at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF) and the British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF) in London, and I am registered with both the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), practising in accordance with their professional and ethical standards.
People come to see me for many different reasons. You may be struggling with anxiety or depression, difficulties in relationships, the impact of trauma or loss, questions around identity or sexuality, major life changes, or simply a persistent sense of feeling stuck, disconnected or unlike yourself. Whatever has brought you here, my aim is to offer a thoughtful, dependable space where difficult feelings, experiences or behaviours can be explored without judgement.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is built on curiosity rather than quick answers. Together we think about not only what is happening in your life now, but also how earlier experiences and unconscious patterns may continue to shape the way you relate to yourself and to others. Developing this understanding can open up the possibility of meaningful - and lasting - change.
Alongside my clinical training, I hold a postgraduate degree in Modern Languages from the University of Natal in South Africa and a postgraduate diploma in the Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health from King's College London.
Before qualifying as a psychotherapist, I worked in the financial services industry and latterly in the third sector. My varied experience reinforces the importance of meeting each person with careful attention, compassion and respect for the complexity of their individual story.
